Intelligent Play was created to answer questions and solve challenges that we were hearing from grounds managers and facility owners around the world.

Our experience.

The Intelligent Play team is made up of experienced professionals with many decades of work in the sports facilities industry. From synthetic turf manufacturing to floodlight installation to field construction, our team brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from across the world of sports field management.

Our diverse backgrounds ensure that we understand the challenges faced by our clients when it comes to managing and maintaining their sports fields. And that we are passionate about delivering solutions through our technology.

Intelligent Play is founded

Working closely with grounds managers, facility owners and turf maintenance specialists, Intelligent Play was developed to provide automated data about the usage and maintenance on sports fields. Our aim has always been to help make your sports fields play better, last longer, player safer and be greener on the environment.

2017
First system installed

The first Intelligent Play system was installed at Royal Holloway University to give the grounds team data about their 3G pitch used for football and rugby.

September 2017
First system installed at a National football centre

Home to all England football teams, Intelligent Play was initially installed on two fields at St George's Park. This has since been increased to 5 fields.

First overseas installation

Intelligent Play was installed on 12 fields at Ciudad Real Madrid, providing the Director of Grounds & Environment with usage and maintenance activity insights from across this extensive professional training facility.

First NFL stadium installation

At the world-famous, multi-use Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Intelligent Play is used by the stadium grounds team to help narrow down specific areas of the field that have seen heavy traffic allowing them to focus their resources and carry out more targeted work.

First MLS / NWSL stadium

Home to Los Angeles FC and the ground-breaking Angel City FC, the BMO Stadium has Intelligent Play installed to assist the manager of grounds and turf to identify heavily trafficked areas of the field. In addition to soccer games, the stadium hosts more than 10 concerts each year and Intelligent Play supports the grounds team with data to be able to plan and focus their maintenance efforts to ensure a consistent and safe playing surface for their home and visiting teams.

New dashboard launched

As a technology company, we never stop innovating and developing. 2022 saw the launch of a complete re-design of our user dashboard as well as a host of new features added, including local weather information, expanded reports, a field testing library and the ability to add manual maintenance tasks. All of this was implemented free-of-charge to existing users and is provided as standard to new clients.

First MLS performance centre

The performance centre for LAFC is located more than 12 miles from their stadium in downtown Los Angeles and Intelligent Play allows for the field to be monitored remotely. With Intelligent Play installed, the grounds team for the performance centre are able to manage even usage across the field and carry out appropriate maintenance procedures at the optimum time.

Our first major global event

Working closely with the league organisers, our technology was installed and used to help ensure the football field for a major annual event would withstand the intense usage of the game and half-time entertainment.

In 2023, we started the year with a double installation at Oklahoma State University for their stadium field and practice field. We've since also installed the system for Rutgers University.
